A Tenerife-born singer with a solid career and remarkable versatility, she possesses a richly nuanced voice and a powerful stage presence. Her work spans jazz, boleros, film music, and electronic music, with collaborations in more than twenty projects and four solo albums.
She has opened for Rod Stewart, Gloria Gaynor, and Luis Salinas, and has performed at festivals in Spain and around the world (Argentina, Morocco, Cuba, France). She represented the Canary Islands at Expo Zaragoza 2008 and has worked with renowned artists such as Richard Bona, Kike Perdomo, Pablo Cebrián, Chago Melián, Rogelio Botanz, and Fabiola Socas, among many others.
Her debut album was released in 2005, produced by Kike Perdomo and featuring Cameroonian bassist Richard Bona. In 2010 she released Historias compartidas, which included the song “Ni una lágrima,” winner of the second national prize in the “Rimas contra la Violencia de Género” competition that same year. In 2011 she launched The Lady Is Still Alive, a tribute to the great jazz divas, premiered at the Canarias Jazz & Más Heineken Festival.
In 2014 she released Gerunds, this time under the artistic name Ricca. Produced by Pablo Cebrián (collaborator of Sabina, Serrat, and India Martínez), the album received airplay on RNE, Radio 3, and various international stations. As Ricca, Esther Ovejero has performed in venues across Spain and Europe, as well as at festivals such as Canarias Jazz & Más.
She has also been part of the Tenerife Noir Festival lineup and has been a regular collaborator with the Tenerife International Film Music Festival (Fimucité) since 2011. She lends her powerful voice to both the Tenerife Symphony Orchestra and the Big Band de Canarias, with whom she recorded an album for the Varèse Sarabande label.
