MOCHIKOMI by Kodansha

In this edition, Kodansha, one of the largest publishers in Japan, organized an event called “MOCHIKOMI” (Pop‑up editorial session) during the 31 Manga Barcelona. It is a unique, traditional Japanese manga system in which creators present their work to publishers and receive direct feedback on the spot. This practice is crucial for the growth of the manga industry, offering creators an invaluable opportunity to receive advice and hone their skills.

The Japanese publisher Kodansha held these Mochikomi sessions specifically for international authors for the first time. Interested manga artists attended Manga Barcelona and presented their work with the aspiration of debuting as mangaka in Japan.
