After the overwhelming response from fans to the announcement that Yoko Kanno and SEATBELTS, together with Mai Yamane and the Canary Islands Big Band, will be part of the next edition of Manga Barcelona, we are thrilled to share that, in addition to the major concert on Friday, December 5th dedicated to the music of Cowboy Bebop, two more exclusive shows produced by Manga Barcelona with the legendary Japanese composer will follow.
Thus, Yoko Kanno, responsible for unforgettable anime soundtracks such as Macross Plus, The Vision of Escaflowne, Wolf’s Rain, Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, and Kids on the Slope, will take to the Main Stage of Manga Barcelona three times: on Friday, Saturday, and Monday during the 31st edition of the festival.
PIANO ME
On Saturday, December 6th, at 1 p.m, Yoko Kanno will perform a piano concert at Manga Barcelona. She will be joined by the spectacular voice of Mai Yamane, singer of themes such as The Real Folk Blues, Blue, Don't Bother None, and Gotta Knock a Little Harder. A unique opportunity to enjoy her compositions live on Manga Barcelona’s biggest day.
DANCE AND BEBOP
On Monday, December 8th, as the grand finale of the 31st Manga Barcelona, Yoko Kanno, Mai Yamane, and the musicians of SEATBELTS will take the Main Stage at 12:30 p.m to present a one-of-a-kind concert: jazz and dance merge in DANCE AND BEBOP, a musical fusion that promises to make fans of the Japanese composer dance to a special selection of songs.
