KADOKAWA Seeks New Talent at 32 Manga Barcelona

For the first time in Spain, the Japanese publishing house will hold one-on-one portfolio review sessions for aspiring manga authors

What if your next step as a manga author took you to Japan? From December 5 to 8, 32 Manga Barcelona will host the KADOKAWA WORLD MANGA ATELIER (KWMA). This initiative, launched by the prestigious Japanese publisher KADOKAWA, aims to discover and support new international talent and connect creators from around the world with the professional manga market in Japan.

For the first time in Spain, one of the industry’s leading publishing groups will offer individual portfolio review sessions (OnSITE Portfolio Review), providing a unique opportunity to present projects directly to visiting Japanese editors. Participants will receive personalized advice and professional feedback on their work, as well as editorial guidance on stories, characters, graphic storytelling, and projects in development.

The event is aimed at both emerging authors and experienced professionals who wish to give their careers a boost and explore publishing or developing their careers in the Japanese market.

Additionally, KADOKAWA will participate in the event's program with a lecture by Noboru Segawa, editor-in-chief of the KADOKAWA World Manga team. During the session on Tuesday, December 8, at 4:00 p.m., he will present the KADOKAWA WORLD MANGA CONTEST and offer key editorial insights on creating professional manga from the Japanese industry perspective.
