The story takes place in the near future where robots have become part of everyday life thanks to Akira Mizutamari, a young scientific prodigy and developer of the Salt domestic assistance model. However, after a series of failures, Akira begins to feel that he has reached his limit. Then, he hears a friend say that having a girlfriend could give his life a boost. Taking this advice literally, Akira creates Bride No. 0, an android with programmed emotions that gradually develops feelings of her own. Is it “love” that blossoms between her and Akira, who isn't used to communicating with others, or is it something more?
