Hideo Nakata

Born in 1961 Okayama, Japan. After graduating Tokyo University, he entered NIKKATSU Studio. He studied under Masaru Konuma and Shinichiro Sawai as assistant director and in 1992 he debuted as a director in the TV drama series “Hountouni atta kowai hanashi”.

In 1996, he directed “Don't Look Up” as his first feature film.  “Ring(98)” “Ring 2(99)” and  “Dark Water(02)” made him the master of horror which led him to the Hollywood directorial debut in “The Ring Two(2)”.

He is active at home and abroad. His recent movies are “Life in Overtime(18)” and “Stolen Identity(18)”. “SADAKO(19)” is his fourth movie for this series to direct since “The Ring Two”.
