In 1978,“Kinnikuman” was selected as a runner-up for the 9th Akatsuka Award, and was serializedin Weekly Shonen Jump at the age of 18 until 1987, and became a socialphenomenon with its aggressive multimedia development including animation,movies, goods, and games.
At the ageof 25, he became a hit, ranking first and second in the manga category of the“Long List”. He won the 30th Shogakukan Manga Grand Prize.
His representativeworks include “Kinnikuman” and its sequel “Kinnikuman II” and “Ramen Man”. In2011, he resumed the serialization of “Kinnikuman” on Weekly PLAYBOYNews, andthe series has sold a total of 77 million copies.
